As a new year starts, a lot of people make resolutions, or goals, that they want to work toward for the upcoming year. We've just started 2015, so tell me, what is a goal you have for yourself for the rest of the school year. Why are you picking that goal? Do you want to work on becoming more organized? Do you want to study better for your tests? Do you want to read more at home? Do you want to work at controlling your talking while here at school? Think about what you want to become better at, and make sure to tell me the great question of WHY.
We've been studying animal classifications in science. We've looked at the following groups for vertebrates and invertebrates: mammals, fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds, worms, echinoderms, sponges, mollusks, arthropods, and cnidarians. Think about which group is your favorite. Make a list of 3 characteristics for that group, as well as your favorite animal out of that group. Make sure to tell us why that animal is your favorite! I look forward to seeing your thoughts! Here's mine: My favorite group is the cnidarians. 1. They have stinging cells. 2. Their cells do not sting everything, but this is how they get their food. 3. They do not have bones. My favorite cnidarian is the sea anemone because they can come in so many different colors. All the pictures I see of them, they look so cool! Fifth grade friends,
I hope you have had a great beginning start to the year! I would like to know about your thinking so far. Please comment with the following things: -2 things you have liked so far this year in fifth grade -1 thing you think will challenge you in fifth grade (think about a way in which you need to GROW!) I'm excited to see what you have to say. I think my the two things I have liked most so far this year is working with you in your teams, and getting to know each one of you! One thing I need to continue to work on is giving you all time to talk, so you'll be ready to listen when it's learning time! I look forward to your comments. Remember, you will need to list your name. However, you do not need to list an email or a website. I will approve the comments as they come in, and you can read them later! -Mrs. M Friends,
This is called a blog. A blog is a website where you can post your thoughts, opinions, or ideas. We'll use this blog as a place where you can talk about what you're thinking. It might be about what you're thinking about a book, something that happened in class, or even what you're doing this weekend! Your comment will not appear until I approve it. Why does that happen? Because we need to make sure everything that is posted is school appropriate! Today, I want you to think about your upcoming long weekend. (Remember, there is no school on Monday!) I want you to talk about 3 things you are looking forward to for this weekend. You do not ne |
